Established in 1972, East Central Livestock Auction has been a successful family-run livestock auction business for more than 35 years. With its central location, the salebarn is convenient from anywhere in Minnesota, and is also the livestock market of choice for farmers and cattlemen in western Wisconsin.
Morris Besser, long time local auctioneer and Mora area native, purchased the existing business at that time and immediately began construction on the facility that is East Central Livestock today. Now owned and operated by Brent Besser and Karen Kirschner, son and daughter of Morris, regular auctions are held twice weekly.
Every Monday features a large run of feeder cattle - calves, beef yearlings, Holstein steers, stock cows, breeding bulls and market cattle. Wednesday is miscellaneous livestock day, which includes dairy calves, market cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. Hay and straw auctions also take place at noon every Wednesday. A miscellaneous (flea market) auction begins at nine o' clock every Wednesday, as well.
Market information is always available by calling the salebarn anytime. Check the calendar for upcoming regular and special auctions. |
